DIVE DEEPER AND ACCELERATE PROGRESS.

EMDR Intensives

Therapy has evolved. For busy professionals that have a hard time committing to weekly sessions, book an EMDR Intensive to make change happen.

What are EMDR Intensives?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps you process and release unresolved trauma, emotional pain, and limiting beliefs — not just talk about them.

An EMDR Intensive condenses months of therapy into a focused, accelerated format — typically 1 to 3 days of extended sessions, customized to your goals, your schedule, and your healing pace.

Rather than weekly sessions stretched out over time, intensives allow you to go deeper, faster, and with more continuity — ideal for busy individuals who want real change but can’t afford to spend months in traditional therapy.

Why should you do an EMDR Intensive?

EMDR Intensives are designed for those who:

  • Are tired of talking the same issues and want real change

  • Feel limited by the stop-start nature of weekly therapy

  • Need flexibility without sacrificing depth

  • Prefer focused, private, high-touch support

  • Are navigating the complex intersections of race, culture, sexuality, and trauma — and want a therapist who truly gets it

  • Want faster relief and more focused, intentional treatment

  • More intense treatment in conjunction with regular weekly therapy

  • Help managing recent traumatic/negative life experiences without waiting months to see progress

What does the research say about EMDR Intensives?

  • The economics are compelling: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session. • Intensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. Learn more here and here.

  • Intensive EMDR treatment is feasible and is indicative of reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms in a very short time frame. Learn more here.

  • An intensive program using EMDR therapy is a potentially safe and effective treatment alternative for complex PTSD. Learn more here.

  • EMDR intensives allow the opportunity to progress through your symptoms in a more succinct and focused way without the interruption of a 50-minute session. An intensive format may decrease overall treatment time because of time not spent on: a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.

  • Yes. EMDR intensives for current clients are available in modified formats and pricing.

  • Yes. Perhaps you’ve a felt sense that something profound has yet to change, but you’re not quite sure how to shift all the way into a new experience of yourself with your current therapist. Maybe you now cognitively understand new things, yet your body is still confused, so you’re curious about how adjunct EMDR intensive therapy can help. We will identify what format is best for you during your initial consultation.

  • A half-day intensive offers a multitude of resources and can help to either increase performance and confidence, or significantly decrease the devastating effects of single event trauma (e.g. negative cognitions, disturbing emotions and body sensations). While significant healing can occur in one half-day intensive, Complex PTSD deserves more treatment than one half-day intensive. Many of my clients experiencing Complex PTSD may continue to work on their trauma histories through monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly half-day intensives.

  • Participating in a 3-day (weekday or weekend) EMDR intensive may create impactful change more efficiently than just weekly, 50-minute sessions or even one half-day intensive. We will identify what format is best for you during your initial consultation.

  • It’s a common concern — but no, the pace is always tailored to your capacity. We build in breaks, grounding, and self-regulation tools throughout the day. Your healing process is collaborative — nothing is forced or rushed.

  • Yes — we always begin with a preparation session before your intensive.
We’ll build coping tools, explore your goals, and make sure your nervous system feels ready.
You’ll never be pushed beyond what feels safe or manageable.

  • Yes — all intensives are offered virtually for your convenience and comfort.
EMDR is just as effective online when facilitated correctly, and many clients actually feel safer and more regulated doing this work from their own space.

  • Before your intensive, we’ll have a 60-minute prep session where we:

    • Clarify your goals

    • Build stabilization tools

    • Discuss what to expect

    • Make sure you feel ready and supported

You’ll also receive a preparation guide to help you plan for before, during, and after the intensive. Your intensive also includes a personalized integration plan and a follow-up session. If you want to continue with weekly therapy or schedule another intensive later on, that’s always an option — you won’t be left hanging.

You don’t have to wait months to feel relief. Real healing can happen now.
