AFFIRMING CARE WITHOUT GATEKEEPING.

Gender-Affirming Surgery Letters

The road towards receiving gender-affirming surgery can be difficult, but you don’t have to do it alone.

You Know Who You Are. My Role Is to Support That.

You are frustrated, confused, and stressed out by all the things that come with receiving gender affirming surgery and care. You feel like getting a gender affirming surgery letter is just another hurdle in the process. However, it can be a very supportive and enriching experience to talk to an affirming therapist on this journey.

If you're seeking a letter of support for gender-affirming surgery, you deserve a process that is respectful, affirming, and free from unnecessary barriers. You shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to access the care you already know you need. I provide letters of support for gender-affirming medical procedures in alignment with WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) guidelines—without pathologizing your identity or making you prove yourself.

My evaluation includes a thorough clinical assessment and review of previous medical and mental health information to see whether you meet the criteria for me to provide a letter confirming the medical necessity of gender affirming surgery. The entire evaluation may be completed in one single session, but more may be needed to cover all the topics we will discuss. Some of the things that we will go over together includes the following:

  • Completing a Psychological Assessment

  • Confirming a diagnosis for Gender Dysphoria

  • Exploring any co-existing mental health diagnoses

  • Discussing support system and after-care plans

  • Discussing readiness to undergo treatment

  • Processing any fears or concerns

What You Can Expect

Whether you're seeking top surgery, bottom surgery, facial gender-affirming procedures, or other gender-affirming care, my approach is:

  • Respectful and collaborative – I center your lived experience and autonomy

  • Trauma-informed – I recognize the harm that medical systems and mental health gatekeeping have caused

  • Flexible – I offer virtual sessions across California and documentation that meets insurance or surgical team requirements

What the Process Looks Like:

  • Initial Session (50 minutes) – We'll discuss your goals, process your thoughts and feelings about surgery and your gender affirming journey, and talk aobut your support system before or after surgery.

  • Letter Writing – I will write a letter that meets WPATH and surgical/insurance documentation standards. You'll receive the drafted letter in a secure, HIPAA-compliant format within a few business days

  • Followup Session - We will go over the drafted letter together during a followup session, and talk about any needed revisions before

  • Delivery – You will get a signed letter after the followup session and any needed revisions are made

  • Optional - You are welcomed to get ongoing support through individual therapy throughout your gender affirming journey

Do I have to be in ongoing therapy with you?

No. You do not have to be an ongoing client to receive a gender-affirming surgery letter from me.

This is a standalone service I offer to support access to care. If you’d like to get ongoing therapy in conjunction to being assessed for a letter, that’s absolutely welcome—but not required.

As a queer-affirming, trauma-informed therapist, I trust you to know what’s right for your body and your transition. I’m here to support—not question—your path.

Whether you need a one-time letter or a therapist who can walk with you through the complexities of identity, healing, or transition, I welcome you.
